Benefits of Medical Marijuana
Cannabis has been shown to offer therapeutic benefits for a range of conditions, making it a valuable option for those seeking relief. For individuals with PTSD, cannabis can help reduce anxiety and intrusive thoughts, allowing for a more stable mental state. Chronic pain sufferers often find cannabis effective in managing their symptoms without the harsh side effects of traditional painkillers. Those with anxiety may experience calming effects that alleviate stress, while cancer patients benefit from its ability to reduce nausea and pain associated with chemotherapy. For people with multiple sclerosis, cannabis may help ease muscle stiffness and spasms, improving mobility and comfort. Additionally, some individuals with autism find that cannabis can help regulate mood and behavior. If you or someone you know is struggling with any of these conditions, a medical marijuana card might provide much-needed relief. Call The Green Remedy to explore how cannabis could improve your quality of life.

The Pandemic, Mental Health & Cannabis
When we first heard about COVID-19 at the end of 2019, who would’ve thought that in May of 2021 life as we knew it would still not be back to normal? Unfortunately, that is the situation we are in.
Many of us have managed to cope well with the changes that have been thrown our way due to the pandemic but, many of us have struggled. The pandemic has introduced a great deal of worry, fear, anxiety, stress, loneliness, uncertainty and concern. It has altered our routines and financial situation. Isolation can be tough. Social distancing from your loved ones can be tough. Change can be tough. The decrease in access to medical professionals can be tough. Even running regular errands can be tough! It’s important to find ways to take care of your mental health, however, it’s not always easy.
This post is in no way to encourage people to use medical cannabis to deal with the pandemic. However, it is meant to inform people that the anxieties you’ve been dealing with pre and post pandemic could be treated with cannabis. Anxiety is one of the qualifying conditions to use medical cannabis in the state of Pennsylvania. Many of us deal with anxiety disorders on a daily basis. Some may have already spoken to a medical professional about it, but many have not.
We encourage you to take control of your mental health and speak to someone if you are having difficulties coping with this new life we are forced to live. Reach out to our primary care doctor or simply Google “mental health providers” in your area.
We are in this together.
Anxiety & Tourette Syndrome Have Been Added to PA's Marijuana Program
The PA Department of Health added anxiety and Tourette Syndrome to the list of qualifying conditions for medicinal cannabis use. Here is everything you need to know.
Pennsylvania’s Medical Marijuana program recently voted to add Tourette Syndrome and anxiety disorders to the list of qualifying conditions. These changes go into effect on Saturday, July 20th, 2019. The Green Remedy has already began booking appointments for those that have been previously diagnosed with these conditions.

Anxiety & Cannabis
It has been debated whether or not cannabis helps anxiety, or causes it. It has been researched and proven that using cannabis has helped patients with certain mental health conditions, such as anxiety.
Truth is, everyone is different. Everyone responds to cannabis differently, similar to how people respond to traditional medication differently. Some individuals experience paranoia when using cannabis, others don’t. However, cannabis can increase symptoms of anxiety for some, but really help others. In fact, cannabis has been proven to help more people than not, and that is why the Pennsylvania Department of Health – Division of Medical Marijuana decided to add it as a qualifying condition. What makes cannabis such a good treatment option for anxiety, is because the acute affects of marijuana-use include a sense of deep relaxation and well-being.
Tourette Syndrome & Cannabis
Tourette’s syndrome is a neurological disorder that is characterized by involuntary movements and/or vocalizations, known as tics. These tics can be painful. We already know the therapeutic benefits of cannabis when treating pain, but were you aware that cannabis helps treat neurological conditions, such as Tourette syndrome? Canadian and Australian studies have shown significant tic reduction after cannabis use. For a large amount of patients in the mentioned studies, cannabis has been more effective than Risperdal, Haldol or Orap, commonly used medications to treat Tourette’s syndrome.
For these two conditions, and all of the other conditions listed as approved marijuana conditions, we always recommend that you maintain a relationship with your primary care physician.

Happy Holidays,
Is Medical Cannabis Right For You?
Deciding whether or not to use cannabis can be a tough decision. Hopefully, in this blog post, we can answer some of the questions you've been having.
Many of us heard that medical cannabis can change lives and even save lives. However, for some reason, you may have been hesitant and unsure if it was the right choice for you. We are here to tell you that cannabis is probably the BEST treatment option for you.
Many prescription drugs, most of the time, do not heal. They simply mask symptoms and for short term relief it's great. Living with pain, nausea, discomfort etc... is not easy. At least you will be able to live normal life, but, what are the long-term side effects? A prescription drug, whether it is lyrica, prozac, zoloft, methotrexate, percocet or vicodin, is filled with harmful toxins that can actually cause more harm than good. These side effects include, nausea, upset stomach, cancer, addiction, weakened immune system, cardiovascular conditions and liver damage or failure. Those are not the only side effects, but those are a common few.
As a society, we've abandoned the principles in which we need in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. "Popping pills" have become the norm, however, that's not a healthy foundation to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle. It would be unfair to say that long term use of cannabis doesn't have any side effects, because then we'd just be lying to you. Those side effects are not nearly as harmful as traditional drugs.
Pennsylvania has approved over 15 debilitating conditions that can now be treated with medical cannabis. The Pennsylvania Department of Health has conducted the research, and realized that patients with these conditions can live a better life by using cannabis as medicine. Many patients with these conditions have had little to no success with prescriptions drugs.
Those conditions are:
- AIDS
- ALS
- Autism
- Cancer
- Crohn's Disease
- Epilepsy
- Glaucoma
- HIV
- Huntington's Disease
- IBD
- MS
- Neuropathy
- Parkinson's Disease
- PTSD
- Seizures
- Severe Chronic Pain
- Severe Intractable Pain
- Spinal Cord Disease
- Spinal Cord Injury
Since we've began helping patients understand the benefits of medical cannabis, a common concern we always hear is that people do not want to get "high". THC, one of the active components in cannabis, does have psychoactive effects. That is what causes that "high" feeling. The common misconception is that you will get high if you use cannabis. Cannabis can be consumed in several different ways - vaping, using topicals and oils are common methods of consumption. With these different cannabis extracts, you have the option of using a strain that has little to no THC in it. Which means, you can benefit from the therapeutic benefits of cannabis without the psychoactive effects. Great! Isn't it?
Cannabis is considered to be "modern medicine", however, it's actually one of the first medicines discovered. The first documented usages of cannabis dates all the way back to 10,000 years ago.
We hope that we've discussed some, if not all, of your concerns. Feel free to give us a call with more questions if you would like to further discuss is medical cannabis is right for you.
